love thy self

Why are we so fearful of aging, terrified by the first signs of wrinkles and sagging skin, that we dread looking at our reflection in the mirror? Why are we so obsessed with looking young that some of us buy into the hype of being transformed into someone else. We see advertisements that make us question our physical appearance. Just because we our becoming older does not imply we are not attractive anymore.

It’s disheartening that these advertisement campaigns project a picture that is very bias and they offer many options to consider. The ads offer body sculpting; breast implants, face lifts, cosmetic surgery- anything you desire can be purchased and now financing is readily available.

Aging is another chapter in our lives, an opportunity to shine. “Our winkles are medals of our passage.” And this should be perceived as a wonderful opportunity of maturity and beauty. After all contrary to what some may say, things that are old are greatly sought after for their beautiful history and value. A bottle of Chateau Lafite Rothschild wine vintage 1869 was sold for $26,000 whereas a 2023 vintage sold for only $539.00. The 1869 vintage would have been a prize for the collector, who would adore it because of its age

Antiques are admired because of their age – so the same should apply to you. Are you satisfied with who you are? You can change how you look but you can’t change your age, you can do many things in this new age but you cannot change your expiration date. You can attempt to cheat Father Time, but he will always be the winner. Learn to love thy self for there is no comparison to the inward or outward beauty you possess.

So don’t attempt to reinvent yourself with multiple surgical procedures instead embrace yourself. Be thankful that you are alive, it’s a blessing. Those wrinkles are badges of honor wear them with pride. You are older but you are beautiful- understand how valuable you are. When you know self, you will look in the mirror and love thy self!!!! With age you are evolving into a masterpiece.
